Well back to that pleasantly warm day in the desert of New Mexico. Sal had just climbed to the top of a large dune, and was waiting for Chik, who had just found a tasty desert bug and was munching it on his way up. Sal said "Hey Chik, what's it mean when there is this big thing sticking up into the sky, bigger then any cactus could ever grow, that looks like it is holding an egg in it at the top?" Chik rushes up to the top of the dune, and looks at the tower with the egg. "I don't know Sal", says Chik " Maybe it is a giant hollow cactus holding a giant egg for those really big birds we see flying out of the 'man-place'." Sal thinks for a while, plopping down on the sand to rest his tired feet, Chik joins him. "Well we should watch this egg hatch to find out what kind of bird comes out....", says Sal. So they hunker down and wait for a while, not aware of the danger of being so close to a nuclear bomb test.
They didn't have to wait long, a speaker near the tower played the countdown across the desert " 10... 9... 8...". "What’s it saying?" Chik asked Sal. Sal said " It's the mother bird talking to the baby bird... trying to get it to hatch... she's impatient!" "4... 3... 2... 1... " Chik looked at Sal and just then the egg hatched, and out came this giant mushroom made of fire and smoke, Chik and Sal were scorched by the blinding white flash, and the shock wave blew them over the side of the dune... Chik said "Whew! What a rush! That was neat Sal, can we do it again?" Sal said" Chik, I feel kind of Funky, and I got this weird sunburn...." well Chik also felt kind of weird, so they decided to head home.
On their way home the mutations started... their feathers fell out, and they started to grow, and grow and grow! Their wings grew longer and the ends split into 5 digits, Their legs grew and changed the direction of their knees! Their skin turned pink, and they GREW HAIR! WOW! They got stronger and much smarter then the average rooster. Since they were different from normal chickens, and now looked like people, they decided to hide among the ranks of Fantek, to be among the other mutants... And that is the story of the beginnings of Team Chicken Salad!
